A FEW SHORT STORIES ABOUT HOW I WORK:

Recently, I worked on a cover and two inside illustrations for Uppercase magazine. Since art director Janine Vangool said she liked the 'sense of dimension' in my work - I used cut paper, and treated it almost like a photoshoot, re-arranging the elements in dozens of variations. It all starts with rough sketches. Then I experiment with color and textures using monoprint techniques - paint and inks on paper - I like the unexpected effects that happen. See the final pieces here.

Project: Editorial for a magazine in Germany. It's published by one of the largest banks in Europe: the article was about democracy and individual freedom vs. group mentality (they translated for me). Here's how the development of the piece went, from sketches, to color test, to final.

Over time, I've collected random pieces of paper, vintage, garbage.....in the streets of New York, to flea markets in Rome...and have done tons of collages with them. These sometimes to find their way into my final pieces.

Here's an early color test, and then the final approved piece, below.

I've often got some experiments going on in my studio...come back and visit again soon.
